I visited the  American Jewish History Museum in Philadelphia and REALLY liked what I saw.  I had listened to ALL THE TALK about them and was delighted to see that their history is one of struggle, achievement and diversity like ours as Black people... Different groups of people are going to have to get together if this ole planet of ours is going to survive. That means ALL kinds of people: Gay people, Straight People, White People, Jewish people, Black people, Asian people, Women, men, transgendered persons, children, and every religion and ethnicity under the sun..... Also considered in the museum exhibit were exhibits about Jewish Gangsters and mob figures; business people; Jewish Abolitionists; Jewish Business Leaders; Their pre-colonial History; and even Jewish Slave Owners. I highly recommend that people go see the exhibit. I had expected a lot about the Jewish People's Holocaust, but I didn't see much about that because it was American Jewish History.  As you know the Jewish Holocaust happened in Germany during World War II.....

Doctor Hunter's Trip To Cuba {In Progress}

My Brother-in-Law visited Cuba in December to attend the Havana Jazz Festival. Among those He heard play were; Chu Cho Valdez and Roy Hargrove; Doc Hunter said that there are now more modern cars in Cuba including the Chinese Geely; the German Mercedes Ben's and a Russian made car as well. Doctor Hunter found people to be Hospital, likable and friendly when he stayed in a bed-in-breakfast like place called a Hotel Pascelicula ?? Which allows for some small amount of Capitalism among the people. Doc Hunter said the people were ``not impressed’’ with tourists like one might find in other parts of the world such as Europe because people just aren’t like that in Cuba. I mentioned my own trip to Cuba back in 1991 with the Ventermious Brigade and how I found the people just delightful, wonderful and friendly. I mentioned how I had met a policeman who was talking with some young ladies and I found him ``friendly’’ as well, whereas police in the States sometimes can be hostile towards people f color, especially Black youth. I also remembered working in the Yuka fields and being diagnosed with High Blood Pressure {and getting my first medicine for that illness right there in CUBA}



Doc Hunter said he stayed in the Hotel Pascelocula for about $25 a day and that he paid for breakfast separately. He also got a chance to intermingle with the locals and walked around openly at night. Doc Hunter said that Havana is supposed to be ``the largest city in the Caribbean’’ with about 2.2 million people. While Doc Hunter was there he got a little Montezuma’s Revenge on the way back, but has fully recovered.

You know, I thought about it and I thought about it. Time went on and I thought about it some more. And some more. How can Christians really be conservative like they are in many Southern states (The so-called Bible Belt) and other parts of this grand Nation we call the United States of America? How do the two concepts of Christianity and Conservatism honestly co-exist in one’s mind and in one’s way of thinking—let alone one’s actions? My conclusion is that the two ideas can’t co-exist simultaneously in the thinking of a sane person. Not real Christianity. Conservatives want things to basically stay the same. Stay the course. Jesus wanted change, Big Change. Conservatives would have never been for Civil Rights unless the passage of such rights were forced down their troughs. Ultra Conservatives would go to the hangings of Black men and Black women (sometimes even children in the case of Emmett Till) and watch with glee while holding onto their Bibles—just before dining on Barbecue or going to church. Is that sanity—I think NOT!! They would attend such gruesome and deadly public events just after attending church or before church. That does NOT sound like God to me. It took decades of struggle until just about everyone but the KKK knew that Civil Rights and now Human Rights are the ONLY direction for America and the rest of the world to be moving towards. This is the right thing to do, as Spike Lee and a host of other Progressives such as writer Nome Chomsky have made clear. The conservatives were against the end of slavery—again the White and Black abolitionists had to get together with other progressive thinkers to end slavery. This was not pretty. IT was a bloody battle that took years and a major war called the Civil War. This struggle started at the beginning of slavery & took place before, during and after the Civil War. You might think President Abraham Lincoln was a conservative—well think again. He was NOT a conservative like we are used to experiencing today from Republicans. He was for an end to slavery even though he was a Republican—he was more of a progressive thinker in those days than a conservative. In those days, the mid 1800’s, Republicans were not far right and out of touch with the common man and reality like they are today.

Moreover, what about Labor Rights? The rights many of us take for granted were fought for tooth and nail over the 1920’s and 30’s and 40’s and on. There was a great deal of bloodshed and even deaths as labor rights activists, some courageous American politicians and everyday people struggling to make a living, helped finally give us the five day week and the weekend. They also gave us child labor laws, better wages, health care benefits, overtime and other such hard-fought-for rights. When the conservative hero-- Ronald Reagan was elected President of the United States in 1980, the first thing he did was crack the back of the of the Air Traffic Controller’s Union. (Why some people insist that Reagan was a hero, I’ll never understand.) The Airport workers wanted better working conditions for what is arguably the most stressful job in America. Reagan went on to do several gruesome things like have Maurice Bishop of Granada killed during an American invasion; destroy the American economy through the arms race (whatever happened to negotiation?); there was the Iran-Contra Affair and all the drugs that were bought into LA by the CIA (This is documented stuff); he bastardized Affirmative Action; and set the stage for so many, many U.S. jobs to leave our country over the 1990’s. He also helped almost criminalize the word ``LIBERAL’’ with the help of the so-called Liberal media (the Liberal Media concept is really another Right Wing trick and a myth—the most overpaid and popular radio talk show hosts are very conservative (Such as Rush Limbaugh), as well as many leading newspaper columnists such as George Will and William Safire.. . There are few liberal voices who can boast of such structured social acceptance, status and high pay as the three men just mentioned. I love Whoopee Goldberg and bell hooks dearly, but their words do not find their way into public policy and general public discourse as readily as the three gentlemen mentioned here (Safire, Limbaugh and Will). Liberals are generally for labor rights, conservatives are generally for the rights of the corporate structure to pay less taxes, exploit cheap labor at any human cost and expand no matter what happens to the environment. Ultra right wing conservatives are like a speeding train out of control. The conservatives feel their pro-corporate policies will stimulate jobs. What did George Bush’s Big National Tax cut for the rich do to ensure your job and expand our economy? NOTHING!! We have had higher unemployment, a weaker economy, a dollar falling dramatically in value, an expensive $250 Million-Dollar-a-day war and mounting racial intolerance under the regime of George Bush and Dick Chaney. Party, and ideological animosities were building as we faced off for the (2008) National Fall election and the eventual victory of Barack Obama and the Democrats. The last days of Bush’s triumphant mishap so flagrantly called a Presidency were long awaited for by progressives and positive thinkers like myself... The conservatives don’t sound like what Jesus would have wanted for the future of the World or the future of America. I believe that Jesus was not only NOT a conservative, but he was most likely a person with dark skin—probably an African. White conservative Christians have been misled and lied to for years. And they continue to spread their lies through the media and from their pulpits. People Like the late Reverend Jerry Falwell have taken their conservative ideas way too far. Conservative ideas were originally designed to help keep the government out of the way of corporations and out of people’s personal rights and out of people’s bedrooms and personal business. But people like Falwell have taken their ideas out of the church and into our personal lives by fighting against a woman’s right to choose a safe and legal abortion and the right of Same Gender Loving people to find dignity within their relationships. The conservatives under Ronald Reagan and the Bushes look more like Judas and King Herod than what my concept of Jesus is. Why King Herod? Herod took people’s taxes, made war and sought to kill all who were about justice and empowering the poor and down trodden. (King Herod went after Jesus Himself!!) Sound familiar? Bush was in the pocket of the rich and wealthy—he practically admitted it in Michael Moore’s film ``911’’. Bush is especially cozy with the BIG oil companies and the pharmaceutical companies. Obama prides himself in that he has taken mostly small donations from poor and middle income Americans. Who do you think sounds more like Jesus? Reckless foreign intervention; war and repression; racial hatred; no increases in funds for educating poor and disadvantaged children (through programs such as Head Start); more money for bombs over money for books and education; no support for level-the-playing-field programs such as Affirmative Action; and the rights for women?—Out the window!! These are part and parcel of the Conservative agenda. That is not what Jesus would be working towards if he were alive. Jesus was killed by people in the Bible who DIDN’T believe in human freedom, peace, love and the power of prayer to heal. Call the White House and tell them you want to change the Pentagon into a World Peace Center and see how far you get!! (And that is even with Obama in the White House). Well, that is what Jesus would be doing if he were alive today!! He would tell you that the Pentagon itself is NOT sustainable and neither are the two wars the U.S. is fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq!! (Much Too costly in lives and Money!!) In America, even a Nobel Peace Prize winner like Jimmy Carter won’t take his name off the Nuclear Submarine named after him. I asked him to do so in a letter and he wrote back saying he would NOT do so. But, even so, I like Jimmie Carter and I think his Presidency was more in line with what Christianity is REALLY all about. We have become so comfortable with a war machine mentality (in the guise of National Security) that violence, hatred and war have come to fit our Nation, much of our thinking and the former Bush Administration like a supple leather glove. Unfortunately, President Obama has NOT taken a strong stand against war and repression like a person of color and a man with his intellect and stature should. This is largely due to the perseverance of the conservative ideology in America. Guns, guns, guns and more guns!! Support for the National Riffle Association (NRA). These are also part of the Conservative agenda—but not what Jesus, as I understand Him, stood for. So don’t get it twisted—like the Goliath media does. Understand that being a true Christian is trying to be Christ – like. Not being like a racist, or like backwards-thinking conservatives. Is there anything good that conservatives have brought us? Certainly war and repression and a world on the brink of destruction are not good things? Well, George Bush sure paved the way towards the White House for Senator Barack Obama of Chicago. If George Bush had turned out to be a more moderate Republican like former President Gerald Ford, I don’t think the rise of Obama would have been so dramatic, so meteoric and so successful. For that I thank old George…………. After he stole the elections of 2000 and 2004, the people were raring and ready for change. Not even a woman in the form of Hillary Clinton was speaking to change enough in 2008 so she didn’t make the cut. Unfortunately, if the Democrats don’t bone up and stand up to the ``Party of NO’’—the Republicans, we could well be on our way to fascism in 2012—a thought I don’t relish and would rather NOT write about or think about at this point. Stay alert, stay tuned and vote in EVERY ELECTION!!!

How PoPEye's Chicken is Making US Into Lazy, Stupid and Ignorant People...

Yesterday I saw a lady with Her children on the subway.  She had a very cute face.  However, Her behind was as big and round as a gigantic  orange pumpkin.  She could barley fit on the seat.  I have to say I was very, very worried that Her children would grow up--or should I say grow out--to be as fat and round as She was.  She looked like a lady--all dressed in pink-- who I am sure frequents Pop Eyes Chicken and Biscuits more than three time a week..... This sister had a behind the size of Walter the Rainbow Trout in ``On Golden Pond''.  I'm talking really, really BIG and Fat.  I know some brothers like a big butt, but this was just Way too much. I Pray to GOD that Her children don't grow up as fat as She Was... I am kidding around, but also making a point.  The point is that if people don't  being more realistic about their eating habits and their obesity, they are destined to have severe physical problems that will blow up a great deal later in life. The First Lady has told us this as well as Doctor OZ, and a Host of Others. I Pray the Good Lord keeps this fat lady's big behind out of Pop Eye's Chicken.  This is old fashioned eating and cooking with a lot of lard, grease and food that The New Black People of the 21 Century Don't need to be consuming. We should be eating fresh vegetables, fresh fruits and all the other fruits and foods suggested on my blog [look up alternatives to Mickey Dees and What to eat and What NOT to Eat.....]. We have to do what the First Lady said and eat less fat, get plenty of exercise, rest and stay away from so many calories, cookies, pies, sodas, fake chemicals and sodium.  OR else we Will all pay a price with poor health and very, very high health-care bills. [By the Way, I struggle with my own weight issues, but have been eating much better lately.]. More Later.....

The fiRst thing that needs to happen is for the United Nations to either be abolished or become, through some democratic, real, measurable, authenticated and fair process, a REAL and ACTUAL international body with a REAL and ACTUAL process through which to REALLY represent the people and countries of the world--not just a body through which the OVERPOWERED Security Council unduly manipulates almost every action and proposal that is either put forth or proposed by the United Nations [especially smaller non-allied countries like North Korea, Iran and Venezuela].  Whatever proposals that are put forth by the small independent countries need to be fully considered just like larger countries have their proposals considered.

[By the way the Security Council consists of the United States, Russia and Chine. Their powers in the United Nations have always been maxed out because of their veto powers when measures that make these SUPER POWERS uncomfortable are raised.]

The next thing is to do away with international corporate control of almost every darned tooting policy that effects wages, who gets paid, [and how much] and the hoarding and manipulation of money and the power and influence that comes along with money, especially in large amounts...  This can be done through a process of limiting profits for corporations and limiting exploitation by having international standards for wages and international standards for factory construction and maintenance standards that include concerns for the environment as Well as decent, acceptable international safety, comfort and standards, and measures for the running, maintenance and sustainability of new and old factories.... Will people be safe in the work place, and ultimately, Will they be able to, through some, again, legal, consistent and measurable procedures, be able to begin a process to create more community control over the means of production. This is crucial.

The next important thing is to make it so an international body of taxers, controlled through this refurbished United Nations or the other body that replaces them, actually confiscate the money from ANY and ALL rich people who have more than $300 Million Dollars in the bank or any such traceable or untraceable as setts of more than $300 Million Dollars.  This confiscated or 90 % taxed money Will be used to provide money for services, proper and decent food, proper and decent  housing, proper, on-going and consistent up-keep of government buildings at all levels [local, state, and federal], proper and decent up-keep of the worlds' roads and bridges,  and proper and decent health care for ALL the world's people.  There is NO WAY these so-called job creators [the rich] need any more than $300 Million Dollars to move forward with the work they continue to do, so why do they need it?  Most of their work and most of the mental work and the mentality behind what they are doing and planning is anti-human, anti-people and against the stabilization of the planet and the environment anyway.  [There are some exceptions.] The work of most of the rich is also unsustainable in this new era of finding Ways of maintaining stability and creating sustainability.  {I should point out that I think the good work of the humanitarian, the humanist, the lover of mankind and woman kind, the Progressive activists, the Civil Rights workers and others fighting for liberation such as those also fighting for Gay and Lesbian Rights,  and the people who want to create opportunity and freedom for the entire world is done by people of ALL colors. There may well be cultural and racial motivations, many innate and many learned, that help make some races and cultures act in certain ways either for or against the decent sustainability of our world.  Many  of these racial and cultural differences and motivations concerning this decency issue are explained by such authors as Temple University's Professor Molefi Kete Asante [President of the Molefi Kete Asante Institute for Afrocentric Studies] and other researchers, writers and authors such as Brother Tony MonteRo also of Temple University; and author, writer, journalist Brother Lynn Washington.] The money I'm talking about ultimately belongs to the people--not the rich, so-called employers who ``make'' the money in the first place.  The rich wouldn't have a penny if they didn't have workers from whom to exploit labor.  There MUST be a controllable and verifiable Way to maintain, control and share this wealth.  Any leadership MUST be constantly tested and judged and must be rotating in the process through which they serve the World to distribute this money. These funds will NOT only go to Black, Latins and other people of color, but Whites also who have been poor for a long time, for generations, or who are just down on their luck right now.  There is enough wealth to take care of the entire world's people if we can ALL learn to share.

I hate to talk about race, but really there is no way to get around it.  My Mother used to say, ``It is there genes against our genes.''  [She wasn't talking about pants either!!] I am a Black Gay man and many of the world's best, brightest and most courageous and intelligent thinkers are Black People.  But we have had our views and our voices shut down, smothered, and usurped generation after generation.. This HAS to STOP and we have to use any means necessary, short of violence, in my opinion, to bring this great new earth about !!.  It is time that these voices were heard and heard loudly and clearly and it is time that We were allowed to serve the public and welcomed properly into the World Community. We should be accepted if we are men, women, children, Gay or Lesbian, Transgendered or even bisexual.  No matter what color we are and no matter what religion We are, no matter what race We are or what station or income level we come from in life.

Beginning these processes Will have a dramatically positive impact on creating more liberty, democracy, freedom, equality, Racial Justice and happiness throughout the world, but as the world's people we must be ever vigilant to keep the process open, clearly defined and available to the masses.  Corruption, greed, mismanagement and ignorance MUST be rooted out at every chance and at every level We can. There must also be made every effort to end profiteering in the creation of war at every chance and opportunity we have. It is ALL about acting responsibly and with integrity...
