A LETTER FROM DISNEY STUDIOS

Forward: I had sent a letter to several studios in Hollywood suggesting that they form a business component that helps them AND the Black and Latin communities by allowing Sisters and Brothers who sell BOOT Leg videos to buy them at a cheap rate from the studios and make money for themselves and also make money for the studios for First Run films and even older movies as well. This would have a Big Impact on decreasing the unemployment rates in the communities of color across the Nation. It would also help decrease the loss in profits experienced by the Big Studios from the production of Boot Leg Videos.  None of the other studios--which included Lion's Gate, Dream Works and a few others--even had the courage to write me back. I have been strangely unable to find the original letter I sent the studios.  It was the second such letter I wrote them. Disney made an ironic typo which I have noted below:

Dear Tracy:

Thank you so much for your electronic communication providing a suggestion for the less unfortunate.  However, it is with sincere regret that we will be unable to provide the assistance you requested.  As you would expect, we receive a tremendous number of requests from many fine organizations, community groups, and individuals--far more than we are able to accommodate.  Unfortunately, though, the suggestion outlined in your letter could be considered in the nature of an unsolicited idea.  In today's world, our company must be careful regarding unsolicited ideas and/or suggestions.  The long established policy does not allow us to accept for review and ideas, suggestions or creative materials not solicited by us.  The intention if this policy is to avoid any misunderstanding or confusion that may occur when projects or products are created internally which might be similar to submissions made to us from outside the company.  For this reason, we are not able to retain any copies of your e-mail.  This is not meant to offend you in anyway; it is simply our company policy not to retain copies of correspondence that could be considered an unsolicited idea.

We do recognize that our policy regarding unsolicited ideas is sometimes a difficult one and we hope that you understand our position.  Please know that we truly appreciate your taking the time to write to us and we try very hard to listen to and to convey appropriately any comments or concerns, yet still abide by our policy not to accept ideas or suggestions.

With sincere good wishes and appreciation, thank you for your interest in writing to us.

Very Truly yours,

Mary Taylor, Senior Paralegal Specialist

My Response [Which I will send back to Disney]: First of all, my Letter used the name Brother Tracy Gibson, so they did NOT address me in the manner I wish to be addressed in. They made a rather glaring typo which I am sure they fully meant to make, I don't know if you caught it, but it says that I ``provided a suggestion for the less unfortunate'' ... The ``Less Unfortunate'' would be the rich, am I correct? The Oligarch, the Ruling Class and the Wealthy are ``Less Unfortunate.'' I made a suggestion for the ``less fortunate'' the poor and the disenfranchised among us--especially Black and Latin men who are suffering from high unemployment numbers...[also women of color]  This type of corporate response is typical and expected.  They are always doing something that requires so much secrecy, but that never really pans out to much of a basic advance or positive change for poor Black People, poor Latin People and other poor people of every race and creed.  They probably have every intention of stealing the idea and using it for what ever dastardly purposes corporate entities use such information for.  I have gotten the same kind of sorry letters from McDonald's Corporation [Which I am helping the Black and Latin and Poor communities understand why we need to totally boycott because of the poor  nutritional value of their food and because they exploit working people, especially youth, throughout the world.] and other companies as well.  I recently got a letter from Whirlpool that requires some attention and may hold some promise.  This is why I insist that people not only take it upon themselves to be more informed about what North American corporations are doing, but also look into who the corporations support politically and where they get their dollars from.  How much money do they make from the Black and Latin communities? And so forth.  There is a Progressive non-profit company called Corporate Accountability International [it in NOT a Black company and quite frankly they need to hire some more Black and Latin employees. I applied for work there and was NOT accepted.] that makes it their business to take on the bad corporate entities in North America such as Haliburton, Coco Cola, Nest tea, Wal-Mart, and others and utilize their wherewithal to embarrass them into acting in better accord with National community standards for good environmental standards, fairness, decency, inclusion and for equality for all Tax-payers and consumers in our Nation. [I owe them a letter suggesting that they also take on more positive ``carrot'' tactics, than just using the ``stick'' to embarrass the corporate world.] I have even supported Corporate Accountability International financially and have pledged a good amount of money to them in the near future when I become more financially able. [There is an article on them and a free ad for them on this blog that I will place further up on the blog.]  My friends who I owe money to know for sure that I pay them back and that I am basically an honest person who wants to see the best for our Nation and it's people.  You can research the history of Disney. Let me know what you find out about their early racial policies, their treatment of employees and how outrageous the salaries for their top officials and executives are. Think of all these things the next time you go to see ``Bambi,'' or ``Snow White.'' I am waiting to hear from you.  BLockBoi75@Yahoo.Com
