RE: The Halting of The Proposed Development of Pebble Mine in Alaska by British and British-Australian Mining Companies: Anglo American Mining {British Mining} And Rio Tinto {British – Australian} Mining Company. What WE can do and Why It IS Important!!!
It has come to my attention through a letter from Actor – Director Robert Redford [ a spirited form letter], that Mr. Redford, a life-long Progressive and a leading Board of Trustees Member of The Natural Resources Defense Council for 35 years, that two British mine firms [Rio Tinto and Anglo American] are planning to mine copper and gold in these proposed Alaskan mines. If they do so—and We have to take up non-violent arms to stop them—they will greatly disturb the natural eco systems that have taken hundreds of years to evolve in this pristine region of Alaska. This area is home to several species of Wild Life including: an abundance of bears, whales, seals, and eagles. Native Alaskans also live there and have fished for Salmon there for generations. Hundreds of area fishermen and conservationists DON’T WANT THE PROPOSED MINES THERE!!
Often we, who life in inner cities, forget that there are regions of our great Nation that have managed, through the struggles of environmentalists like Mr. Redford, Ms. Frances Beinecke {President of the Nature Resources Defense Council} and hundreds of other environmentalists throughout North America and other parts of the world They help keep clean waterways, streams, National Parks, natural lands, and other natural wilderness areas the Way they should be: unpolluted, clean and an asset to those of us who like natural wilderness areas.. Such places are of great value to our remaining Native Peoples and Indigenous Peoples, to the wild life that call such beautiful areas home and to those of us who are fortunate enough to travel to such places to visit them..
We still have time to act. Anglo and Rio have NOT been built yet. We can still write our congressmen, Senators, The President and First Lady, our local environmental groups and national environmental groups as Well and let our voices be heard. But we MUST take action Now!! To disrupt still yet another balanced eco system in this country would be a crime that we cannot allow to happen. The natural habitats are too vital to our natural resources as a Nation and our environmental stability. Mr. Redford Called the proposal for the mines ``An environmental disaster waiting to happen.’’ He also said the proposed mines are set to be built ``at the very headwaters of our planet’s greatest wild salmon river systems: the Kvichak and the Nushagak {Rivers}.’’ He went on to say that ``tens of millions of salmon course through this unspoiled Eden, feeding not just an abundance of bears, whales, seals and eagles but also the Alaskan Native communities that have thrived here for thousands of years, ‘’…
It is my HOPE and Prayer that you as members and leaders of government; community activists; concerned citizens; and those concerned with the Rights of Native Peoples and Native Lands will take all appropriate actions to halt the development of Anglo and Rio mines. Redford stresses that ``Nothing like this {This particular area in Alaska} exists anywhere else on earth.’’
It is obviously a treasure that we DON’T NEED TO LOSE FOR MORE CORPORATE PROFITS and greed THAT ARE ALEADY OUT OF CONTROL.
There are a few things I want you to do as activists and organizers: 1} Call the Natural Resources Defense Council or go on line and make a small donation. Even if it is as small as $5. Long onto: www.StopPebble.Org Or call: 1.212.727.44.00
2} Call your Congress Person or U.S. Senator and demand that they do whatever it takes to stop the Pebble Mine.
3} Join the Natural Resources Defense Council to help them do the vital work they do as Environmentalists to protect our Natural Resources everyday. A membership of $35 Will help greatly in the work they do.
I thank you for the supports you have given me over the years and for your continued deep concern for the environment and the other social causes I have taken on over the 35 years of my work.

Personal Note: Having my own work to do aside from my work as an activists has cost quite a bit of money over the years. I added a personal request for funds from Mr. Redford to support my efforts and I have let Him know full well what those works are. If you request a copy of the other letter I sent Mr. Redford you will receive it. {Write me at the 213 Address Above}. There was no direct payment of me as an activist for this particular letter.

Healing the Massive Porn Industry From Bottom to Top.....
Healing the Massive Porn Industry From Bottom to Top...
By Brother Tracy Gibson.......
Those of us who look at pornography and support that industry with Our hard-earned dollars--and there is a strong river of support of the PORN industry Running through the Christian and Religious, Religious Right and or Spiritual community throughout North America including Down South--WE need to come clean and let our friends and family [but NOT our children under the the age of 15--know what we are doing. The honesty Will be refreshing and helpful with you becoming more honest with yourself on many fronts and in many Ways. Apply your strong religious values to your obsessive sexual desires and know that GOD, The Creator and Our African Ancestors, still LOVes you and LOVes us. I think as sexual beings WE have to remember GOD created our libido also. He or She wants us to have a sexual side, not just to procreate, but as part of the enjoyment, excitement, LOVe and desire that adds great spice and a kick to life. Just keep it cool and try, for now, not to be obsessive, but accept yourself and LOVE yourself and GOD, by ALL means. Don't feel judged from above and don't let others judge you. Basically they are no better than you are, because there is something about themselves they are hiding as Well. If Pastors, Reverends and other Church elders are judging you, know they need to do What Michael Jackson said to do several years before His untimely death--and look at the Man in the Mirror...
The Other Day I sat down and came clean with the Lord. I wrote an eight page letter to Gaudenzia House--a place in Philadelphia that helps people with mostly drug and alcohol addictions. I told them I need help with the pornography addiction I have had for about 20 years. [It all started in My Father's basement when me and My cousin Leslie would hunt for all sorts of things. We discovered a stash of old Sexology magazines and abruptly began our journey into adulthood. Later we would discover other porn magazines as well.] I also told Gaudenzia House I need help with the food addiction I have as well as with my high anger and frustration level at being so destitute, as far as I know, financially. [I have been eating at soup kitchens because my business efforts and quest to find employment as a consultant have failed.] I need help with the way I obsess about sex and sexuality. These are the inner demons I am fighting. What I wrote to Gaudenzia House was highly emotional, based on raw feelings and emotion and I felt naked--like the man in the mirror. I felt ashamed and hungry for healing. I am praying Gaudenzia House writes me back or calls and are able to give me some help. I am tired of the led weight of My addictions dragging me down when I have so much work to do and people to help on a host of issues each and every day. It is odd how even with 30 plus years of therapy, I still have a host of other areas needing to be worked on. I'll have something for sure to talk with my theaipist about when I see Her in APril!!!...
But what I wanted to talk about today is PORNOGRAPHY and how man, many North Americans need to heal from it. It is pervasive and literally billions of dollars are made from it. I don't think anyone can erase the porn industry and put the Genie back in the bottle. What we can do is demand more choices from the industry. And if those choices are NOT forthcoming, we can, as creative people, as a creative community, make film that bridges the gap between legitimate film and PORNOGRAPHY. What am I talking about... I'm talking about starting a new gerund in film that is aesthetic, but also sexually explicit, but not JUST in a titillating way, but in an EDUCATIONAL WAY as well. I think we can ALL agree that we need to take sexual education back off the streets where it is filled with sexual innuendo, misinformation, sexual abuse, rape, sodomy, silliness, game-playing and more abuse. The subject of sexual education is a serious one that needs to e explored, examined and taken to task by our bet community activists, community organizers, businessmen and business women, visionaries, thinkers and our best Black minds. [Just as an aside I will let you know that I attempted to organize a conference on sexuality for this year with two other activist [Mr. Bey and Ms. Letterer]... These two people were kind and visionary enough to meet with me a few times, but we were all so busy that we just couldn't get it all together and there seemed to be little or no funding available.]
My Own Personal Film Vision: Two Black Gay men walking through an island setting nude. One with an exotic wild flower in His hair. They are holding hands and they stop and kiss from time to time. We hear them talking about life in general and how much they LOVe each other. How they want to spend their lives together in a monogamous relationship. How they want to live on this island for a generation and LOVe each other until time is no more. There are exotic island birds like the tukon fluttering overhead and there are all sorts of exotic plants and a few animals. One of the Brothers is holding a bag. He takes out a colorful blanket and drapes it on the ground. As the two Brothers, caught in romance, lay down, they spend more time talking and getting to know each other. Slowly and with caring and concern for each other, they begin to make LOVe to each other.
This to me is the start of a new gerund of film that will be both popular, commercial, successful among the PORNOGRAPHY crowd and helpful as Brothers who are Gay begin a healing process that allows them to be who they are in a safe space and with dignity and pride. I find, in talking with people, that ``just getting your rocks off'' in very unfurfilling, European in scope, limiting, boring and not what many people envision sex, sexuality and reaching true intimacy should be about. Many people among the Gay culture want more. They want to filled whole, fulfilled, LOVed, open, accepted sexually and they want to feel able to reach a true and deep level of real intimacy with a special person. In the age we live in sex with many partners to just reach orgasism and move on has about had it's day. Welcome to the thinking man's guide to PORNOGRAPHY and taking a short, but whole new look at what PORNOGRAPHY can be. Safe sex is a MUST. No sex without condoms unless we do NOT enter each other or share body fluids in any Way. No aggressive slapping, calling each other the N word, or being abusive to your mate or partner in any way. No cursing. Finding LOVe words instead. Finding open hearts. Open minds. Actual caressing and sharing is the rule instead of the exception........for starters an existing example.....
There is a segment of the Black Adult film ``Take Em Down Two'' that features two attractive Black men who must have been Lovers in real life long before the cameras started rolling. Slayer and Juice, the two gentlemen featured in the segment, didn't slap each other on the butt, call each other the ``N'' Word or otherwise physically or verbally abuse each other. What they do is make Love to each other in one of the most tender, Loving and intimate sexual exchanges I have ever seen depicted on screen. They authentically seemed to care about each other as they used condoms in most scenes and take time and patience with each other in a Way I have never, ever seen present between two men before. The thoughtfulness and kindness that goes into each scene is something other adult film directors should and MUST take note of. So many new adult male films for the Black male audience show such a high level of abuse and disregard for the actors that I really can't bare to watch them. There are whole segments of Gay adult porn for Black men that I will NOT purchase or buy. There is just far too much recklessness as men enter each other without using condoms and hit and slap and curse one another repeatedly and consistently. Slayer and Juice have an extraordinary sense of patience and LOVe with one another. They have a sense of perfect timing and there is no intimidation between or among them. Such tender interactions are very much needed as We face some stipulations regarding the bedroom that need to be dealt with in a more honest, wholesome and truthful manner. The days for sleeping with three different partners or men within a six month period for Black Gay Men needs to be put to Rest forever. We, as Black Gay Men, need to take our time and get to know each and every man we become intimate with for at lease a month before we enter into any Level of intimacy with such a partner. Such things, in this Year of Our Lord 2013, cannot be legislated, but We Must come to terms with the consequences of sharing our bodies with too many partners. I predict that as marriage equality becomes more popular and advantages of the U.S. military's and Congress' recent rejection of Don't Ask Don't Tell hit home--it Will become more radially evident that a more reasonable history of who we share out beds with is the only path that makes good honest truthful sense.
By some estimations, 85 % of what goes on, on the Internet has to do with pornography. It is a vast world of executives, mob figures, money, police, web sites, prostitutes, film making and prosecutors [who sometimes look the other way], models, ``actors’’ and the everyday citizens like you and me, who support the porn system with our hard-earned dollars and buy the DVD's. By the way, back in the 1980’s they were saying that pornography was responsible for more gross receipts [If I may use a pun] than all three networks combined. That’s several billion dollars. The amount of profits from pornography has grown signigantly over the last 40 years.
The section of the porn industry loosely [If I may use a pun again] called ``Gay porn’’ is one of the fastest growing and most lucrative. The funny thing is, they are selling ``Gay Porn’’ in little townships and villages in the rural South as well as in Big Cities like New York's Manhattan, Harlem Philadelphia and Detroit. That’s right, even the so-called Bible-Belt is into pornography, although you would never know it from their consistent Conservative ``RED STATE’’ status and outwardly conservative social underpinnings that the so-called Bible-Belt exemplifies in the Main Stream White Goliath media...
Within the ``Gay Porn’’ industry there exists a sub gerund called ``Black Gay Porn,’’ a sub gerund, but a very viable and lucrative one. Millions of people across the U.S., not only Black Gay males, are interested in buying and enjoying Black Gay pornography. Thus, as you might imagine, this sub-gerund is also lucrative and features many, many of the Big Black names in porn with porn stars such as: ``The little Israeli Boy,'' ``Mr. Buck,'' ``Black Ice,'' ``DyLLan,'' ``Sir Cream,' ``Supreme / Castro,’’ ``Maze,'' ``Vivid,'' ``Nubia,’’ ``KB, {Who I adore}'' ``T-Malone, {Fantastic Ass}’’ ``Ocean,'' ``Jovonnie, {A Bottom and a Top with skills in both areas}'' ``Osian, {I have NEVER seen a man who loves to take it Like this Man does}'' ``Shaft,’’ ``Redd,’’ ``Shawn Legend,’’ ``Bronz Star,’’ ``Sho-Nuff, {Very Handsome, Very Skilled}’’ ``Black Ice,'' ``Altrique,'' ``Rudy Scott,{This Brother is a Bit harsh, But He sure is Sexy}'' ``Maze,'' ``Vivid,'' and ''VENOM'' just to name a few.
These Black Men are out to make a living. They take their clothing off whereas we put clothing on to go to work and make a living. One could say an honest year's pay is an honest year's pay, regardless if one is putting clothing on like a nice dress suite for women or a nice Brooks Brothers suite for men--it is still striving to make ends meet in a world with a shaky economy in many Western Nations like the U.S.. Work is Work...
An Aside:
{I for One, DON'T Condone prostitution nor do I think it should be condoned by our government. I also don't think prostitution should be legalized like it is in Las Vegas. Legalizing prostitution is just another avenue for Big Business to get off the hook of creating the legitimate jobs that People really need. And developing a properly schooled and skilled populace and electorate in our Nation. It also helps allow our other institutions such as schools, institutions of Higher Education and various arms of the government to allow ``certain sectors'' of our population to go unskilled and not even thought of as a legitimate entity as long as they are satisfing the prurient interests of the rest of us, including the rich and powerful--who definitely get their fill of prostitution. It MUST also be pointed out that many, many porn stars and people who are ``actors'' in the porn industry are also prostitutes or hustlers who sell time with them to pleasure ``customers''.}
When we buy pornography, and I have quite a collection myself, we further legitimize the industry--even though it continues to be an underground industry with mysterious financing, shady figures and characters, connections to organized crime, and a lot--a whole lot of money and profits. One thing I do, to justify my sanctified soul and my strong positive spiritual sense and base, is to advocate for better treatment and pay for the BLACK Porn stars and advocate for a section of the pornography industry that is equally instructional and educational as they are also for just sexual titillating. I want to see films made that teach about safe sex in an open, legitimate and ongoing Way so the people who watch pornography [or sexually explicit films] can emulate them by only taking on safe-sex behaviors. This I feel Will help save lives as people replicate behaviors that are safe instead of some of the behaviors that are presently featured in porn that are very unsafe. I also want to see safe sex {such as always using condoms} and less liberal sharing of body fluids in the general public and one Way to get there is to press for these conditions as an Advocate who is very concerned about the Porn industry.... There are many Black Gay porn films where they never think of putting on a condom and where body fluids flow freely. There are also many, many porn films where two people will use a condom for the entire sexual liaison and then squirt body fluids in each other's mouths. [What was the use of the condom in the first place]. I never buy films that are openly advocating bare backing or having anal sex without a condom and I have spoken out in letters to the Center for Disease Control and the Federal Health and Human Services Department about these films. . . [By the Way that doesn't make me better than you. I just happen to be a long-time advocate and someone deeply concerned about the health and well-being of the Black man and Black woman and our whole Black Family. If you are going to enjoy pornography and you are a so-called ``Christian'' it seems to me that this is the correct thing to do. Let's face it, NOT using and enjoying pornography for the average Black Gay man is like asking a Catholic woman NOT to use birth control. {Yeah, sure right, I don't think so!!!--Is the obvious response to such a request from the Catholic Church or The Pope or whoever…} The reality is that this is the 21st Century it is the year 2013 and times are changing and have changed drastically from the 1950's when there was very little venereal disease and nothing at all called HIV… People, back in those days, were scandalized by even the thought of getting an STD and there were no health clinics to go get a shot to make one better and heal. You had to visit your family doctor in shame, and if you were young, your Mom or Dad had better NOT find out about it. You would probably get a spanking or some other punishment and be very ashamed of yourself if you were a teen in such a situation…
It is time we stopped looking at the porn industry and the porn actors as a bunch of dirty, thithey, NASTY people and realized that most of the stars at least are just out to make money and the only thing they know to make money from is their bodies and using them in porn films or as hustlers…. That goes for men, women and transgendered people also. Most of them will never be rich because they are exploited and taken advantage of economically by the Porn industry. {There are a few exceptions to this rule. One of them is Tiger Tyson, who is a Porn Star who has His own production company and must make upwards of $17 Million Dollars a year by some estimations...} If many Porn stars had the skills and opportunities to make something better of themselves than Porn Stars they would probably do so. I know this is true. The industry itself, the Porn Industry, has connections to legitimate media in many, many ways. Some of the same businessmen who own the Big named media like CBS, ABC, NBC, FOX, MSNBC, TNT, TBS, PBS, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Huffington Post, The Los Angeles Times and even The Philadelphia Inquirer and The Philadelphia Daily News, also have connections to the profit making system within the Porn Industry--so we ALL need to stop looking down our noses at the Porn Industry and help it clean itself up from some of the more unsavory and seamier aspects of itself. Opting for more options is one avenue to take in doing so. This Way people who watch Porn will stop or lessen their emulation of what they see so much of in Porn such as carrying on very unhealthy sexual behaviors like NOT USING CONDOMS AND ACTIVELY AND OPENLY SHARING BODY FLUIDS... This is very important and needs to happen right away, like RIGHT NOW!!
To make another point, the racism and sexually abusive behaviors in Porn material is ramped. I was watching one video [The Show, Part One and The Show Part 2] where, at the opening of the film people are coming through the front door to be greeted at a large, expensive mansion. One Black men is asked ``You Don't you have a gun on You DO You?,'' ``or are you carrying a knife,'' while the White gentleman is told ``Oh, A White Guy,'' with great enthusiasm and mirth. That says it all. Whiteness is celebrated and Blackness is still chastised even in the Porn Industry... Also one Black gentleman, in a sex contest, chooses a Black person for what is called his ``winning fuck'' at the end of the film. The narrator says he ``brutally pounded'' the other Brother. I can just imagine that if He [The Brother] would have chosen a White Boy for is ``winning fuck'', the narrator would have said ``they really seem to be enjoying each other.'' Interesting semantics...
Of course, one could argue there are more pornographic aspects of ``Jersey Shore'' on MTV than there is on regular Porn flicks. At least the Porn flicks, some of them at least, don't feature people overtly physically fighting and REALLY being straight-forward and overt in their verbal and physical abuse and violence like they do on the delectable ``Jersey Shore.'' With some of the newer Porn I have seen ads for {But I would NEVER buy} they do feature more overt sexual acts which are overtly abusive and include men having sex with other men without using condoms and actually eating and consuming male body fluids. There is a real need, in my estimation, for much more concern and regulation of the Porn Industry on the part of the federal government...
There is one porn star named Tiger Tyson who is featured in many Black Gay Porn movies. One thing I can say for Tiger is that he always wears condoms. That is about all I have to say good about him. Otherwise, he is very abusive to the people he has sex with. {There is even a scene in ``Bottom's Up'' where he is abusive to T-Malone as if He [Tiger] were an abusive prison guard or cop.} They are mostly Black men and Tiger is Puerto Rican {Which is a mix of White, Black and Native or Indian}... I have heard rumors that Tiger is actually straight with a wife and children. I noticed that He never treats any of His sexual partners with much tenderness, always slapping them on the ass and NEVER really kissing or caressing them}... Maybe he is married to a female, I mean.
I personally find Tiger's behavior very reprehensible, pugnacious and egocentric. I really find His character a negative one.
The Important aspect of ALL this, I believe, is to bring integrity to the industry and bring on more diversity of choices....

When One Considers.........
When One considers the havoc that will be wrought on Our little planet earth when the population grows to over 10 billion people--the lack of consistent food, the lack of available clean water and other necessities like jobs and decent education [Will people even be able to agree on what education Will be by then?]--One can begin to understand that hating gay people who are mostly not reproducing and wanting to stop abortions which stops pregnancy and New Births--is in itself, for the New World--TOTAL INSANITY AND NOT LOOKING AT THE PROBLEM CLEARLY AND NOT FOCUSING ON THE REAL AND TRUE ISSUES THAT ARE REALLY FACING OUR PEOPLE AND OUR NEW WORLD....

Cooking Light magazine--An Ad...
This magazine, Cooking Light, is full of very good recipes and articles. A recent issue [March 2013] has an extensive story about salt, and of course you know, salt is a problem for many Black men. [I will be sending them a note saying they should have mentioned Turmeric, Garlic and Cinnamon as spices that help lower Blood Pressure. In recent issues they have had fantastic recipes for chicken, salmon and rainbow trout. I have been getting gift copies, but have to subscribe very soon.

the men and women of mars.....
my question is why is there excitement created about going to Mars when we haven't done our work here on earth? We are just way too anxious and happy to leave this planet--if we have the millions and billions to do so--and not take full responsibility for alleviating this precious planet of the many problems that plague the lives of humans here.

Beating Mickey Dees on the Food Tip..... By Brother Tracy Gibson...
Beating Mickey Dees on the Food Tip...
By Brother Tracy Gibson...
Finding Alternatives to McDonalds…..
There are a number of Black Restaurants in Philadelphia that serve as an alternative to the stuff that is passing as food at McDonald's. As you know, I am working with the MOVE organization to BOYCOTT McDonald's because of the poor quality food they have and the FACT that much of their food can be traced back to the health problems and physical ailments we have as Black and otherwise oppressed people. Such ailments as heart disease, skin rashes, high blood pressure, stroke, heart attack, diabetes, and joint ailments are linked to the food we eat that is not good for us. {See Reference to the nutrition article under What Up McDonald's}.....
[But before I get to Black restaurants, I want to talk about Non-White economic unity and cooperation is a new and thriving Philadelphia for a moment. I have to mention Chinese food and one of my New Favorite Chinese Restaurants. There is a controversy about Chinese Restaurants in Philadelphia among Black Radicals and Progressives. We like the food, but don't think the Chinese are interested in helping the Black community become a stable, self-sufficient, thriving, growing, loving, kind and open community as ALL communities should be..... Many Progressive and Radical Blacks, who are part of the backbone of the community, be they usually invisible, feel the Chinese come into our community and take money and offer jobs only to their own people. We never see any of our hard-earned dollars come back for positive Black economic development. It is time for a positive change. As Black Radicals and BLack Progressives, we like the food at the Chinese Restaurants because it is filled with fresh vegetables, little meat and little oil. Often too much salt, but we can ask for less salt. That shouldn't be a problem. The Problem is why can't the Chinese get together with some Black investors to bring major Hotels to Philadelphia that are NOT owned and operated by the White man... This would be a good Way to begin to share economic pie mutually instead of fighting and bickering over who gets what and no body being satisfied. I suggest some Black businessmen come to The Sang Kee Peking Duck House and talk about these things. We will find that some positive actions are forthcoming. The Sang Kee Peking Duck House is Home to many, many great dishes. I just had stir fried Snow Peas with Garlic sauce for a late snack with my night time medicine. This Way I don't eat any cheese, sugar or bread. [I didn't eat any rice with the meal]. It was late like 12 midnight, but this is a light meal that goes through and digest well and doesn't cause one to have nightmares or stay up too late unless one wants to work and study like I do at night. There are many other things to eat at The Sang Kee Peking Duck House at 238 North 9th Street [at The Corner of 9th and Vine in Philadelphia.]. I recently had the steamed vegetarian Dumplings [you get six for $5.95.]. They are very good and do not have a lot of fat for people watching their weight. They are served with a green Dumpling so you know they are vegetarian. I also recently had Kung Po Shrimp with Peanuts for $11.95. This was a great dish and the shrimp were ripe, Well Done, big, zesty and tasty. This dish WAS NOT swimming in a salty sauce like people like myself, who have a high blood pressure problem, like it. There are a number of other dishes that you might like if you come down for a Black business lunch of have to go to Traffic Court around the corner at 9th and Spring Garden Streets. Did you ever wonder why there are so many Black people in Traffic Court.... Don't White people also violate the traffic laws..... Just wondering........Their Chicken Egg Rolls are great and not greasy. They are not so hot that you can't eat them, but served just warm enough so as not to burn your mouth. Scrumptious!! The mixed vegetables with Pan Fried Noodles is also a great dish for $9.50; as is the Seafood Maw Soup, I am told... $$8.95 for two.; also Seafood with With Vegetables And Pan Fried Noodles for $11.50. Eating at Sang Kee will bring your business Good Fortune!!!!!!]
I also ate at 52nd and Chestnut in Philadelphia and I enjoy my breakfast. I had scrambled eggs with peppers and onions with Turkey bacon. My breakfast was only $5 and some change. [Mickey Dee Prices]... What I had was not fattening because I DIDN'T HAVE cheese [one of the worst kept secrets about weight gain is DON'T EAT CHEESE!!!].. I also had some veggies [the peppers and onions] and turkey beacon is MUCH LESS FATTENING than pork beacon. There are nice tables to sit at and the Wait staff was friendly. The food was done in a very short time as well. [This particular restaurant is right across the street from McDonald's, which should be avoided.].
One restaurant I like and that has very good food is Baltimore Crab and Seafood at 4800 Spruce Street {48th and Spruce on the South West Corner in West Philadelphia}. They have VERY GOOD flounder; very good string beans and very good steamed vegetables and fresh salads. They take a few moments longer than some of the other restaurants, but what are we always in such a rush for anyway? Believe me, I hope you will try Baltimore Crab and Seafood. They once gave a donation for a Black party I was having when I was the Block Captain of the 4600 Black of Sansom Street and I have never forgotten them for that. THEY DIDN'T CHARGE US A THING. They are real community supporters and always meet us with a smile. During these hard economic times, we have to really support our Black businesses and this is a good one. Prices for platters range from $24.00 on the high side to $4.50 on the low side. Stop on by and give them a try. You can order ahead of time at: 1.215.472.7040. Open Mon through Thu. from Noon to 11 P.M.; Friday and Saturday from Noon to 12 Midnight; and 2 to 10 P.M. on Sunday.
Sometimes I envision Black families taking more time for themselves and going out for a nice dinner instead of grabbing a bag of burgers and fries at McDonald's. The McDonald's on 40th and Walnut is a great place to avoid. But what you might not know is for heavy eaters, or people who like the buffet, there is a great East Indian place at 38th Street near Chestnut in West Philadelphia. It is called the Sitar Restaurant. Dinner or lunch is under $14 per person. I know exactly what you are going to say—and I’ll quote you. ``For $14 I can get a whole bunch of fillet of fish sandwiches, fries, soda and even a few apple pies. Why on earth should I spend that kind of money on some old East Indian food that I might not like…’’ The fact of the matter is, you deserve a break from eating McDonald's food. As I have said in the past. It is fattening, too salty, loaded with chemicals, greasy, unhealthy, bad for digestion, it can actually upset your chemical balance of vital nutrients, vitamins and minerals and it will help make it hard for you to lose weight in the future. McDonald's, as filmmaker Morgan Spurlock_[``Super-Size Me’’ {2004}] proved by eating only McDonald's foods for a month and turning from a normal healthy young White male into a man with high blood pressure, a liver like ``jelly’’ and having gained several pounds. Don’t miss seeing His film. But I digress. I want this Black family I envision, be they a man and a man, a woman and a man or two Black women [with however many children], to go to Istar Restaurant and try the vegetarian chick peas; the delicious spicy chicken dishes, including of course curry chicken; the salad, the other vegetarian dishes and so on. You will have time to savor each morsel as your mouth takes on every taste from this far-away part of the world that few people from the U.S.—especially Black people—ever get to visit. It is worth your good health to eat better. Better food that is. More and more health professionals are saying that if you really want to have a positive impact on your health maintenance, EAT BETTER FOOD CONSISTENTLY, eat smaller portions, and get plenty of exercise. The two block walk from 40th and Walnut to 38th and Chestnut is worth the walk. You have GOT to try the Mango Juice. [$2.50] It is the perfect mix of tangy, sweet and thirst quenching in one glass. [It sure beats the Hell out of a McDonald's shake..] The visit to Ishtar Restaurant will give you and your family time to sit, talk and savor the food as it slowly digests in a proper manner, instead of quickly eat food that is not suitable for human consumption. [There is another film called ``Food Inc.’’ that depicts the commercialism and Big Business mentality of our nation’s food manufacturing/consumption experts and farmers. How they make such huge profits and why corn now plays such a big role in the production of food in our food consumption system is explored in this film. ] I strongly recommend ISHTAR for a night of enjoyable eating with friends, family or significant others.
As I have said in other articles: Family Variety and Deli at 310 South 52nd Street, is a delicious alternative to McDonald's. Their food is fresh, well prepared and they do NOT sell any pork, which The Nation has been telling us for decades is eroding the health and strength of our community. Family Variety and Deli sells great dinners on Fridays and Saturdays; as well as great sandwiches {You can get rye or wheat bread if you don't want the traditional hogie rolls which are NOT good for health}. I often go to Family Variety and Deli and I find the ladies and gentlemen who work there to be kind, courteous, friendly and helpful. I STRONGLY recommend you support them.
Another Restaurant I visited in Upper Darby is Tim's Roti Shop/Restaurant {Phone} 484-461-3080
They have Jamaican / African cuisine and I had some and it is quite tasty. This place makes a nice divergence from the McDonald's right down the street, which has the same old dried out hamburgers; fattening fish o fillets; and sugary sodas, shakes and greasy fries... What Tim's has is jerk chicken {Nice and spicy and quite good; delicious beans and rice; good fish and veggies without meat in them such as collard greens and cabrich. Enjoy!!! They are available for catering as well.....
It is also important to mention introducing new and exciting books about nutrition and the food industry into you life and thought process; Suggested Reading: ``Pandora's Lunchbox: How Processed food Took Over The American Meal,'' By Melanie Warner [ available used for $16.14 of www.Amazon.com; ]''Cooking The Fat-Free, Salt-Free, Sugar Free, Flavor-Full Way,'' By Marcia Williams, [ available used on www.Amazon.Com for $28.98.]; ``Salt Sugar Fat: How the Food Giants Hooked Us,'' By Michael Moss.; [Available used on www.Amazon.com for $10.95.] [You may also be able to view some of these authors on clips on Democracy Now by going to www.YouTube.Com and entering www.DemocracyNow.org and looking through their film archives. They make a very considerable impact on thinking more positively about food choices.

Progressive Voices for the World......
Establishing A New Black Think Tank…....
Progressive Voices For the World…..
The Fronts We MUST Be Working On Fighting On and Developing On:
Nation Building: As Black Progressives; Black Radicals; Radicals in General ; Progressives in General; The Progressive and Radical Left Latin community; Progressive and Radical Left Native Americans; The Progressive and Radical Left Gay, Lesbian and Transgendered Community; Progressive and Radical Left Women; Progressive and Radical Left men; the Pro Labor movement; Human Rights Activists; Civil Rights Activist, etc. We need to be communicating more about how we are going to Build Our Nation within this Nation and around the world. We need to be trouble shooting on certain problems of Nation Building such as building a Left economic base, devising housing for ourselves, our families, our children, our elders, and the rest of us; How we are going to educate ourselves; how we are going to take back the biggest chunk of or the entire Means of Production for the People of the U.S. and the People of the world against the Oligarchy, the Ruling Class, the So-Called rulers of the world. [In my opinion they need to give up 80 % of their money to a Special Fund that ends their oppression of us to be run and monitored by people We like and who really represent us as humans I this struggle. I am doing good work, but I rarely hear from other Radical Blacks about what I’m doing or get a decent phone call. I know I’m reaching people, because Google themselves say I have reached 7,400 visitors since I started my blog two years ago. What gives… I need to hear from you and get intellectual sustenance more often. I don’t even hear about meetings as much as I used to….
Inclusion: We have to continue to press for the inclusion of Our People in the economic and social process that generate money and well- being such as jobs; the established education process; connection to food and water [a few months ago I literally didn’t have enough money to get food. That was very frightening.].
Nutrition, Getting Exercise and Health: We should be formulating groups to get out and get walks in the morning to get exercise; buy food in groups if and where we can to save money; We need to keep pressing for change among the business and social order as to how and what people eat. Have you ever just taken a look at some of the body sizes walking around in our communities… There are some really BIG Brothers and SISTERS out there. Our hearts and body systems need help and are getting over taxes and over worked with all that body weight. [We should NOT feel we can’t write the White House and the First Lady on such issues and tell the First Lady she is doing a good job on this one [very little else do they take any positive action on]… We must also press for and advocate for more and better Health Care for oppressed people and our children…
Healing Our Broken Souls: We are a Broken poem in Need of Repair: Some of our oppression we carry on ourselves. We need to learn how not to do this and how to get mental and emotional help when we need it. ``I am recovering from mental illness.’’ We have to be willing to say that if it is true. There is nothing to be ashamed of if we are working on our issues… It takes literally years to work through issues, but we can help the process by going to the Free Library in our community and, for free, turning off the TV and getting a book of interests to one of our issues. Go to the Self Help Section in the Free Library and read up on self-hatred and building self-esteem or even bullying if you find yourself getting into trouble and going against the Law for bullying people. Let’s look at some of the root causes for these behaviors. I know how expensive therapy is—some of our Best and ``most talented’’ celebrities need therapy Like Beyonce and Kanye West. I’m not just joking around and saying they need their heads examined but look what images they are putting across and what their aesthetic values of Black people—women, men, even transgendered people are. Is it an image of self hate and continuing the process of aggrandizing White culture, or is it a positive fixation on Africa and African lands and African people? These people may be some of the richest of North Americans, yet I profess to you they are poor o Spirit and they have badly broken souls.
Helping Our Children Grow Up Properly: Mentally, Physically and Emotionally…..AND getting a good Education for Them…
Helping Our Children Grow into Decent, Responsible, Respectable, Well-Raised Human Beings has to be one of our top priorities in life--even if we DON'T have children... I am only an uncle, but I have to ask our community.....Do We take the time? You can’t just let a child go to His or Her room and cry if you just had a conflict with them and that was how they sought refuge from you. Once you have gotten yourself back together and discovered just how slight the whole conflict was in the first place and how you really need to inroad what the conflict was and reach out with an open heart and LOVe, find out what the hurt is about and how your family can mend and heal itself back together. Seek professional help if you can get it. Even if you have only medicare or Medicaid, you may be able to get psychiatric of psychological help if you need it or if you child needs it. Don't be afraid to get evaluated properly for such help. If you are a bit fearful at first talk to a reliable older family member about it or a church minister or Pastor. If you are really hurting or if the child is really hurting, please, for GoD's sake, let them say so to the proper authorities from the medical and or psychological fields. Children are a gift. Give the gift that has been given to you--that child--the gift of your own personal time and attention. You don’t have to be directly involved to help out children either…… Call your local Boys and Girls Club and give them a small donation, even a very small donation of a dollar or two and just watch miracles happen for our children and our families....
The Pentagon: We ALL MUST work on getting heap big cut backs for the Pentagon and the military. The money they spend to continue to outrageously dominate the world for rich White men—and that is basically what they do—has to be turned around peacefully and we have to start finding non-military solutions to the world’s problems. We have to devise and construct a Peace-Time Economy as I have outlined in my UP-Coming book ``Writing in Wet Cement.’’ [Due out in May of 2013]. Military brutality is not acceptable and never was. [You can go to Google and input ``U.S. Military interventions since WWII and click the button and over 110 mostly senseless and expensive in human costs and monetary cost, will POP UP. This is shameful and watching another episode of ``Days of Our Lives or ``General Hospital'' won't help matters. When was the last time you visited a veterans Administration Hospital too let the vets know GOD is with them?… I am planning to go to one as soon as I get a chance. There are literally hundreds of thousands of injured men and women coming back from this nation’s wars of aggression around the world and for what….. To get cutbacks in veterans benefits; to have their parents told the military child will never walk again, see again, be able to move His or Her bowels again… Have you even seen the film ``Hearts and Minds’’ about the U’S’s military aggressions and actions in Viet Nam…. I recently got it from the library for free, but I had to return it without even watching it. It was just too gruesome… The scene of the little girl running down the street of Her tiny village with her skin literally falling off Her bones because of devastating napalm contamination was enough to make you sick and a shamed of what our government did in Viet Nam [I remember fro an earlier viewing of the film]; the scene of the young Viet Namese man being literally shot in the head just because He was Viet Kong.—these Beastly actions, these gruesome details about what our nation did in that region are documented facts that cannot be denied. There are literally millions of Asians who have these facts in the back of their heard and if they are any much Worth anything in the level of humanity they have for themselves, they haven't forgotten these things. How can we sit ideally by watching ``Dancing With the Stars,’’ as our lives and worlds fall down around us…… We have to Stand UP and do whatever we can to stop the U.S.’s wars of aggression against humanity at home and abroad. If We do nothing and they come to get us next—claiming we violated the Patriot Act I, or the Patriot Act II or the newer National Security Act… we will be victims of our own indifference, inaction and ignorance. Take heed and Take Action Now!!
Building Alternative Parties: It is quite obvious that the Democratic Party has, under President Barack Obama, been very, very unresponsive to the needs, issues and concerns of the Black people, Latin People, Progressives, Women, and Labor Unions, the Homeless and the Poor, The Disenfranchised etc. and even a few Radicals who put him into office. For some reason that mostly escapes me, but I have the sneaking suspicion it has to do with The White Male thing and economic, Our so-Called President has been definitely more responsive to the Gay and Lesbian community. I need to do more research on this, but, like I said, most White Gay men are just as racist as the rest of the general White population. There are definitely a few exceptions, such as some of the friends I have, but it is obvious that there is a need for a more inclusive, Radical, Diverse party that takes into account ALL the needs and issues of ALL the people who have voted for them including the groups I have mentioned here as well as a few others such as the disabled and children and teens [who can’t vote for themselves and who we ALL have to be sure get their social and economic needs met such as Day care; clothing; food; shelter; an open assessable road to opportunities for their futures; decent, fair and equitable education; and an ability to live without being sexually abused, molested, bullied or unduly arrested or persecuted without fair due process of the law.
Progressive Revolutionary Spirituality…..We have to understand that as we take action to build UP the poor and down trodden and disenfranchised in our own backyards and neighborhoods at home and fight against war and poverty around the world—this lifts our souls and our Spirits and allows us to find new strength to move forward. There are many places where war and repression has found little comfortable places to hind. In the minds of the oppressors, in the thinking of school teachers who fail to realize the issues of the oppressed in other places just because She has spent Her life working on Progressive, pro-Labor causes; in Our own thinking as we get cooped UP writing all day. Going to a Pro-Labor Rally or demonstration for a 56-year old like me can be like taking a shower after three days. All the old cob webs are washed away and what it is really like to be out in the forefront challenging parts of the system that we would really rather NOT challenge is right in our faces.
Finding Time With Family: Even though our families of activists are very, very busy, We must take on fighting yes—but we must also find time to rest in the arms of loved ones and find time for our children. This is very important. Even if you don’t have your own children, like I don’t, I think we have to be able to help our sister’s and brother’s or cousin’s children in whatever Way we can. As I said in my Up-Coming book ``Writing in Wet Cement’’ children are our hope, our passion and they carry our dreams that we were unable to fulfill into the future with them—if they so choose to do that….. Children are a gift from GOD and we must begin to value them as such.
Being Professional: Always carry yourself in a professional manner as much as possible. It is OK to lounge around in a robe or pajamas a few days a week if you work at home, but at least one day a week, if we work for ourselves, we should get dressed up and go out of the house and do some work or research so we don’t have to be cooped up all week. Try shaving and looking your best as much as possible. And always address people in the neighborhood, even silly or unprofessional people or drug addicted people, with the utmost respect at all times. I am still working on this and have not nearly perfected it, as yet.
Honesty and Integrity: With Yourself and Others:
Avoiding the Storm:
Whitney Houston. Who Was She to you….. Was she just a stat or an entertainer…. Was she a Mom and a wife….. Was She an exploited woman, a drug user, a professional woman who was being used by her producers and handlers like Clive Davis, to make money when they really didn’t care about Her….. Was she just someone to listen to on the radio or see on TV who you wish you were like Her, when in fact you may really know very little about the pain, anxiety, fear, emotional dishevelment and Spiritual disembowelment She suffered. Was she just another victim or was she also a perpetrator of some of the very problem that she faced as a woman, a mother, a wife, a singer, an actress, a producer and a Black human being. Were some of the problems that arrived on Here doorstep there because she was a Black woman—I venture to guess that this was the case. I just watched ``The Preacher’s Wife’’ from 2004? [Check] and found it, for the third or fourth time, to be an encouraging Black film that ALL family members can enjoy. There is one famous scene where Whitney goes out on the ice-skating rink with Denzel Washington [Who plays Her and Her Husband’s Guarding Angel], and she is heard saying: ``I’m a Mother, I can’t die like this,’’ I don’t know why that was in the scene, but it is really chilling because as you know Whitney, the gift, the star the Mother the Wife, is no longer with us…… She is proof positive of the exact same thing that happened to my Dearest Cousin Leslie. Leslie was a writer who was just reaching a real level of success when she was just exhausted with her Writing and Book-Touring schedule and got a rare form of cancer that could have been discovered and treated properly if She had been taking care of Herself properly. Leslie had the Good Sense to take on Her own marketing of Her works, but never took time to take time for Herself. This ended up costing Her, Her life. And Leslie was only about 51 when she left this place, this level of existence. Whitney was on drugs early on. From media reports, I think it was mostly cocaine and maybe alcohol. She had a grueling tour schedule of concerts, movie making, press interviews [She was interviewed by Oprah Winfrey shortly before Her untimely death] and other commercial engagements as well as her duties of raising a teen-aged daughter. [I am sure that many Mothers would say just raising a teen-aged daughter was enough to keep them busy without all that ``other stuff’’. One need only look at this natural talent, this gift, this incredible talent, to understand why everybody wanted a piece of Whitney….but the question is were these handlers and friends there trying to understand Her and help her cope through other means than illegal drugs and alcohol. Were there people around Whitney who just wanted to make sure she got REST—Plane old Good Old North American or African REST!!! This is a crucial part of any actor’s or entertainer’s or singer’s life and MUST be included in people’s contracts in a real and present form or they run the risk of being another Leslie Peterson or Whitney Houston. We can’t afford to lose Leslie’s and Whitney’s like that. Whitney and Leslie were people who only come along every 40 years or so. How long did it take for Ella Fitzgerald to get here or for Aretha Franklin to get here or for John Legend to get here or for Stevie Wonder to get here….. These people don’t just sing and act. They become the people they play in movies and project a sense of authenticity that is often unmatched…. This is why I profess, that we need our own network of clinics on the par with the Betty Ford clinic, not just for our stars, but for the rest of us. And we need them to be paid for by some system that allows us to pay as a community of wealth builder, for them ourselves. We need to get the government out of the Health care business. There needs to be some Way to rotate costs so people who want to pay more can do so to help others who can’t, but the government, eventually needs to get out of it because it is a large part of the corruption We have in government.
Effectiveness before Growth: It’s Not Always ALL About Money. There are a hundred things Black people can do to pull themselves into more positive thinking. First of all if you are smoking and, GOD forbid, buying cigarettes from the corner store for $1 apiece, you need to stop doing that and get on a regimen to stop doing this and get off those cancer sticks. You can get really sick from smoking. Your family will no longer have you as a family member to rely on and you may become a physical liability early in your life with a bad smoking habit like Our President has. Not smoking can also save you hundreds of dollars a year. There is another Way to put money directly into your pocket. Stop believing the hype about the Lottery. Most likely no matter How much you play, you will almost always lose money. If you take that money and put it inside a jar and save it you will find yourself with a Big Enough stash to put inside a regular lack in a few short months. We dump thousands of dollars into the state lottery systems, only to find ourselves in the losing end of the situation every time. Is this wise? Is this what responsible Parents really want to reflect to their children? Taking small economic steps every week can dissolve away the biggest financial monster over time. For example to get a business license was only $35. But when you are struggling to get food and medicine in the house every month, $35 is like a King’s ransom. But if you make a sacrifice of turning off the Cable TV and sending it back to you so-called cable provider—you will save about $60. A month TA, DA!!! You have your $35. And it is going towards something that can bring in extra revenue—a business license. If you are not willing to make small sacrifice at least temporarily, you may find yourself on that Hampter Wheel of life again and just doing what we think we want to do instead of what we really like to do in life.
Putting Music Forward in Your Life And Taking Out The Drama: There are some people I had to let go in my life. For the most part, I had to say, enough is enough and let them go. The people or person was letting me down and dragging me down. I don't thnk I am ANY better than they are per say, but I do have things I want to do in life and places I want to go and if you have someone who has a major mental health issue or social issue they refuse to deal with, you have to let them go their way and you go yours--especially if they refuse to se the issue and take positive action. If they are taking action, even moving forward in a small WAY, you can stick through it with them if they are a good friend. But if they are NOT moving you can't move with them yu will be held back as they will. Don't let that happen to you. You are worth taking the action to remove yurself from a negative life force and moving forward. Taking that action will be, if they were a good friend, one of the most painful things you have even done, but it is an action that will pay off in Big Dividens for you and your family. You have to do it if you want to walk with your head held high and join the decency of real humanity. That person has a cloud over them that you can't lift. The sooner you realize that the better. I am telling you this from real experience. You will literally be putting the sound of JAZZ music back into your life. You will find other people more like you who are more able to accept a better path for themselves, finding you like a reord needle finds the grove in a record. The music you both play together, even if it is just a friend, will be loud, soft, funky, rhymic, deep and pleasing. You will find new stillness, warmth, LOVe and life that reverberates in a smile on your face and a grove and rhythem in your step. Don't delay. GOD sometimes has a seemingly cruel way of cutting things short sometimes, so relish in every step of positive movement you get to take in life. The negative people you have taken yourself away from will help you deal with staying away from the addictions that have hindered and crippled you and the person you have expatrioted yourself from will help you come to a new understanding of how to truely reach your potential in a loving, positive and effective Way. You will reach a new shore. You will find a New Country. The most important thing is to be honest with yourself and LOVE yourself. Love yourself and surround yourself with honesty and love. And people who know how to honestly LOVe will find the shore of your New Country....
Why as Job Creators, We Need to Support Progressive Labor--By Brother Tracy....
Job Creators and the Need to Support the Union Movement....
By Brother Tracy Gibson...
This article MUST be sent to ALL Top Executives at McDonalds, at my expense. When We--as Job Creators and Business owners--support Progressive Labor we pour money back into the hands and pockets that serve as the very life-blood of the economic base from which we ourselves generate our own economic viability and sustainability. To cheat Labor is to cheat us. To give Labor a raw deal is to give ourselves a raw deal. Fair and stable wages have a regenerative impact that tends to share more money with the communities we serve as business men and business women. It tends to strengthen school districts, tax basis, churches, struggling families and communities; and allow people to fill their grocery baskets and shopping carts so they can shop in a hardier fashion at K-Mart, Target, and Trader Joe's. We will also find our customer base expanding and more happy and friendlier as well as the smaller shops and stores we might own experience an upturn... When we show the spirit of generosity in all commercial contract negotiations--be they either private or public--we are allowing money to flow freely and properly to the communities that sell us their Labor and back to us as owners of the Means of Production, small developers, property owners and small store owners--and back yet again to the people. This is the natural and decent Way things should progress.
Yesterday [March 14th, 2013] I went to a lively demonstration and rally in City Hall for Labor rights and a City Contract with District Council 33--One of the city Labor groups that claims they have been stiffed by the Mayor of Philadelphia--Mayor Michael Nutter. I was there to show support for the Union. As a Business man I feel it is very, very important to give Our Labor Unions fair and decent wages because of the give and take I mentioned earlier in this story. There was a lot of angry Union men and women there. They were chanting all types of things against the Mayor who they feel is not being fair to the Unions at all. I did notice that instead of being thugs like some people think all Unions are, District Council 33, City workers of many stripe, were going out of their way to be kind and courteous to people who were at the demonstration and any official people who were trying to get through the crowd like politicians, police officers, and Civil Affairs people. Things went pretty well. I had no idea about the demonstration and was really in CIty Council or City Hall to show support for an initiative that City Council woman Blondell Reynolds Brown was making to get more women on City Corporate Boards of Directors. She called the number of women on CIty Boards of Directors ``abismal'' and discussed the points of Her proposed Philadelphia legislation that will deal with the issue head on. City Council woman Jannie Blackwell ws also there to show support for the measure. Many women sat around a table and were recognized for the positions they hold on various boards, but Blondell said this was hardly enough. While I was at the meeting for more women on City Corporate Boards, I noticed many, many Union people on my Way in and as I made my Way out also. I decided to wait in line to get back into CIty Hall and show my support for the City Union. Because of my activities with the All Peoples Congress and The International Action Center over the years, I have ALWAYS been close to Unions and Pro-Union. I have, however, not had too many close friends and associates in City Unions except maybe my good friend Levin T. and my cousin Cedric B. [Cedric I don't see hardly at all, but Levin and I are becoming closer as friends because we dine out together from time to time.] So, I took the time to support the Union and chanted, shouted and even testified before City Council for them. It took about two hours of my day yesterday and it was well worth it. I ended up having one of the best days I have had all year. I signed up and stood in line to testify for a bill called 130004 which was for more sick leave. When finally I got up to the podium I explained that I really was Pro Union, but that I couldn't take any stand on the Bill because I didn't get a chance to read it because of the Hap-Hazard way in which the public is allowed to testify without actually reading the actual legislation or even a short synopsis or compilation of each Bill before they are allowed to have their say on how they feel about any certain Bill. I stated my name and my company's names first. I was done in about four minutes. I hadn't testified in front of Philadelphia's City Council since I did so about gentrification sever years ago. It is always good to reach that high point in your activism to testify in front of City Council Some activists do it all the time. I am too busy writing letters to to that or researching and writing. I'll try to do it more, not that I feel the exhilaration and the closeness with the people that was evident yesterday [March 14th, 2013] in Philadelphia's City Council. I also spoke with City Council woman Jannie Blackwell for a few moments and we were back on speaking terms in no time. I am sure she didn't even know how upset I was that I had been unable to have a meeting with Her last summer and was denied several time from her scheduling staff to have a meeting. {Her Appointment Secretary was Lauren Whitleigh at the time, last summer]. Since Jannie took the time to come over to me and recognize me and say She didn't quite know I was the one giving Her some important mail at Her meeting earlier about the Philadelphia Corporate Board Positions for Women, I decided that I needed to stop holding a grudge against Jannie and be more open-minded and accepting because She tries hard and works hard as well. So, that was my day in City Hall and City Council yesterday.
To get back on point, If We let ourselves slip back into the repugnance of greed and too much economic self-perpetuation, we end up pulling the plug on the very economic flow that we feed into and that feeds back into our bank accounts, our own wallets and our personal and family economic well-being as business owners. I think we have to talk to the Unions and their representatives and say ``We want to give you a fair contract; we know you have children to feed and school, taxes to pay, utility bills to pay, and you want to buy a few nice things after the food and utility bills are paid. Few if any people in Philadelphia are buying Ferrari's on a City Wage. '' We should extend ourselves in fairness and with dignity when dealing with the Unions and always allow a free-flow of ideas and information instead of the conflicts that have gone on Between the Office of the Mayor and District Council 33, for example.
When we understand the importance of giving solid contracts and the flow of the economy and stop hoarding money [because we are only harboring heartache and economic hardship for ourselves and the people we want to keep as good Laborers and different parts of our customer base when we hoard money as job creators, business owners and small business owners], we begin to understand the human side of how the economy works. We also begin to understand that creating deeply unnecessary hardship for others only begins to choke off the flow of funds back to us and create animosities in the customer base and among Labor Groups, Unions and Labor Rights Groups that are hard to heal--even over time--and that can create negative ripples in the consumer squadron.
There are a few more points I want to make. Please don't think I am ONLY Pro-Union. While I am a strong Union supporter, and a former and future member of the National Writer's Union, I am also well aware of the difficulties that come along with trying to make payroll, pay employee health benefits, keep up with taxes, utility bills, rental or mortgage payments, and the problems one runs into with employee lateness, demands for more pay when there just isn't enough money to go around and other problems such as maintenance, security and property upkeep. We have to, as business owners, put as much of our profits back into the company as possible. Taking a very, very large salary for your top executives and Big Bonuses only for top executives, Board members and top officers is NOT productive in the present economy when so many people are hurting for a basic good salaries, Ways to feed hungry families, Ways to pay rising tuition costs for children in college and decent health benefits.
As the World Economy Changes: Our Economy...and Some New Dollars....
Our Economy is held together with Old Crusty Puppy Dog Tails and Toe Nails. If you think you have seen the worst of the economic options, I think you are likely mistaken. My Brother in-Law, Doctor Keith Hunter, a Brother Who cares deeply about His family and ALL Black people, sent me an article recently that speaks to the International characterization of the economic woes our Nation and much of the rest of the world are facing; and how there is renewed lose of faith in the dollar; as well as movements in certain groupings of countries to create a new dollar bill for themselves and see How those dollar bills--completely different from the U.S. Dollar--are going to do on the international market. Some of these country's groupings that are creating their own different dollar Bill Will include either Russia, Brazil and Cuba; or Venezuela, South Africa and or other parts of Africa and parts of Central and South America. As I look back over my Internet e-mails I will find out more information and share it with you. More Later.

Brother Gibson has several other projects in the works besides His books including: The Black Millionaire's Network [Which is a financial network and education tool to help Black people of all income levels to build up their finances by investing in progressive stocks; saving money; supporting Black stores and Black businesses; and preparing to buy a home or income property]. The Black Millionaire's Network feels stabilizing Black families and institutions is the best and quickest Way for Black people to realize their positive, constructive and forward-moving dreams; send their children off to college; and buy property instead of losing property. We want to see more Black people into stabilizing their businesses; acting in a more direct, honest and professional manner; and thinking of Greening their businesses while planning for a more stable and sustainable future.
Another of His projects is known as ``The Knowledge Hut On-Line Store'' which is dedicated to bring positive, proactive, educational and constructive products before Black youth especially, to help them build on strong family ethics and values that are hopefully centered in a positive household. The Power of Being Black--By Brother Tracy Gibson.....
The Following Article was written by Brother Tracy Gibson some several months ago and is revisited here on December 11th, 2012 {Tuesday} for youR enjoyment, information, healing and consideration..... .
The Power of Being Black...... And Loving It.....
By Brother Tracy Gibson
Not enough of us, as Black People, really enjoy or understand the power and glee of being Black and really relishing in that fact. The fact of Blackness that cannot be changed... Not enough of us understand that politically, one of the best things in this world to be is a Black Person, and specifically and especially, a Black American at this present particular time in History........
Why do I say this? It has to do with moral and ethical leverage. We are a people who have historically suffered, but overcome. Who knew, for example, that when the Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King Jr. was killed on April 4th in 1968 that he would become an international--if not an intergalactic moral and ethical star--a compass from which other moral and ethical leaders the world over would be compared to and that King would be appreciated and studied by school children all over the world. April 4th, 1968 was a sad day and at the time it looked as if we would never survive the day and get past the riots and the pain of such a loss--Let alone flourish and become some of the most imitated people {artistically and for our political planning, training, tactics and techniques} people on the planet. You might think that other people, especially some White People, really hate us, and some of them do. The haters are a very small minority. Most Whites just don't understand us and will never see the importance of understanding... {Not even with a Black President in the White House right now at the end of 2012 and on until the beginning of 2017....} But some of them, the White People, have tried for generations to do away with us through starvation, unemployment, lack of economic opportunities for our small and moderate sized businesses and by putting us on the front lines of their wars--or even actual using extermination through forced sterilization of our women. {There is even the Tuskegee study that killed several of our Black men through disease experimentation with STD's}.. This is history, I'm not making this stuff up. Yet we have survived and flourished as a people and our numbers have remained steady. {Certainly our quality of life has recently suffered with the economic down turn and the loss of jobs and economic clout, but there is always hope on the horizon.} Much of our strength has come from Doctor King who has taught us, along with hundreds and thousands of other community leaders and activists, Elijah Muhammad, Kwame TuRe, Angela Davis included, other teachers, civic and community leaders, just plane parents, pastors, doctors, writers, historians, visionaries and others in our community who have dedicated themselves to the community and our children and our children's futures these people have given us strength... Our strength and resilience has also come from our sheer ability to read and teach ourselves and each other about the problems we face and the truth about our history and the sheer insidiousness of the system we work and live under.
I say we have leverage because we are able to take our place as we exist in the world today--including our significant historic place in history--and pry open the minds of other people--Latin People, Asian People, curious White People, Muslims, Arabs, Jewish People and even Gay, Lesbian, Transgendered etc. People and others, and allow them to understand what importance our existence plays on the World Stage. {As I have said, several of these groups have mimicked our political tactics and strategies for their own benefit and we have to and need to start looking at this as a good thing and not be envious of other groups' gains, but look at their struggles as also moving humanity forward constantly and consistently. I say this especially about the current advantages that the Gay and Lesbian and or Same Gender Loving community have made [with marriage equality and Don't Ask Don't Tell in the Military] as well and especially them at this time}... Still, we have ethical leverage that many other people don't have or that other groups have not been able to pry free from the general public which has, until recently, remained steadfast in their rather Conservative and established political beliefs and their opposition to us.... {I say we have leverage because of how we have suffered and how we continue to be victimized even through Affirmative Action and jobs programs and other things that often don't work because we have been left out of the planning stages of these projects...} Our past and present suffering gives Way to us holding the keys to this leverage. But I don't, as our Pastor has said, I don't want us to be seen as victims. We have to surpass victim hood and see ourselves as heroes, champions and the leaders of tomorrow. It also has to do with self- love, self- respect and our constant and consistent desire to want to see ourselves move forward as a people. Block the hatred, and the negativity and move forward. BUT SELF LOVE is KEY!!!
What I really wanted to briefly discuss today is Black LOVE and how we gain so much from loving ourselves and our people. When we are proud of another Black person's achievements we have a real gift right there in our lap... When we are jealous we have something deep inside that needs to be dealt with..... Chills go up and down my spine as I write this because this is such a powerful thing that is right under our noses, and many of us understand the depth and magnitude of what I'm describing here. There is so much power, importance and fortitude in Black LOVE--of one's self and one's people. It is a secret weapon that allows us to experience a beautiful colorful prism through which life is seen anew, discovered a new and lived with new meaning, depth and girth. Being in LOVE with your people, and I mean just about ALL Black people, is a gift that you can really only give yourself if you were either raised with LOVE in your household, or have read enough and healed and appreciate Black people through your own personal expectations and your own personal colorful prism. Like me, you may have been filled with so much self-hatred, anger and self-pity that you experienced a series of emotional upsets and setbacks that required therapy over an extended period. Even so, the healing, once it comes, flows like the mighty NILE river UP to Egypt and has lasting and greatly positive benefits. This is largely how I came upon feeling this love for my people and myself and truly loving myself and ``WE.'' This LOVE has helped me achieve my own potential as an individual Black person, and has helped many of our other Brothers and Sisters achieve their own great and massive potentials as Well.
So, helping build self- LOVE, a LOVE for our people and respect for other Black people and LOVE for our achievements, is a gift you can give your children and grandchildren and is a gift that Will last and you and your family will reap a bountiful harvest from that gift for generations to come. Sometimes this ``gift'' comes in wolf's clothing. I have a friend, His name is Bruce, He lives in a rather squalid situation. He is a hoarder and He needs a lot of work done to His home. Bruce has helped me through many difficult times and is a LOVER of Black people, but He won't and can't seem to prioritize His own healing and get that house together. This is a mental illness. It is nothing to be ashamed of. I myself have had to struggle with mental illness--depression and bipolar ism. Bruce requires serious intervention before He will get himself able to extricate himself from his present circumstance. Most people let Him go and feel this is His business. He is a grown man, let Him be. I tried that for 10 years, but there has been no change. I did something drastic a few weeks or about a month ago. I took some shirts away from Him--away from His House--and put them in the cleaners. I told Bruce I would not give them back until he changed his circumstance. He was very angry and frustrated with me, even though He has now forgiven me. He might NOT be so forgiving soon, because I refuse to let Him drown with the Titanic Down at the Franklin Institute this month and early next year. Because, unfortunately for Him, {Bruce} I am not done yet. I can be a stubborn little fucker when I want to be. He loaned me $40.00 which I was suppose to get His shirts out of the Dry Cleaners with. I'm using the money for other things. I needed food because I only get $1,162.00 a month in disability and that is about enough to starve on. I won't have any money until next year {2013}... I decided 2013 will be something different for me. I'm NOT allowing myself to stay suck in the muck and mire of self pity, victimization, dis pare and anger. I'm pulling Myself UP. People tell me I must leave people like Bruce behind. But what do I do about all the LOVE I have for Him and how He has helped me for over ten years? What do I do about how He has Himself tried so hard to help Himself? This extrication and pulling up must be a mighty thing for me. Most people leave others behind, but I don't see how to do that. To the untrained naked eye I am just harassing Bruce, embarrassing Him and NOT acting in a LOVING way AT ALL.. People who think this are foolish, uneducated in the Ways of humanity and unknowing.... Sometimes the medicine of healing has a bitter taste. And sometimes you end up hurting yourself AND the other person by trying to lift up something that isn't ready to move. But Bruce is 60 years old. READY is here. The ``Other'' in me--the ``Other Black'' the man who has been cold and hungry and left out Himself knows I can't leave Bruce there in that situation. Should I call the authorities? Should I call my Pastor at church? I have to decide these issues and things in the next few days.
I hope you will understand the importance of this short article and how deep the feelings of real, authentic caring and LOVE are. It is NOT easy for some people to say they LOVE someone, because they were not brought up that Way. This article, writing it, has been a healing process in itself. I have been deeply hurt by another Black person {I have healed from it and learned with the vital help of a therapist over an extended period, as I have said. I never thought I would have gotten so many benefits that have kept on coming. You might need to do some healing yourself. You may have been or come up against a parent, an intimate partner, a stranger, a friend, another relative, an uncle, aunt, step-parent or grandparent or a Brother or Sister who hurt, mistreated or abused you, or you might have abused others. To really experience life to the fullest you must heal from that pain you felt or even the pain you caused others. The person who abused you MUST be forgiven for you to move on. It doesn't matter if the person who abused you is alive or dead. You have to find the healing POWER and forgive and move on... Otherwise you will find it hard to re-direct your life and move your life in the direction you want it to move into. You will find yourself addicted to food, drugs, sex, alcohol, or something else and your pain will come. It will come out in another way. The gift of mental and emotional healing is a great one and more of us as Black people need to understand this gift and help heal other Black people on a very deep level. My sister says that if Black people only got mental help and therapy for REPARATIONS it would do us all as a people a world of good. I agree. That is why I am intervening with Bruce and that is WHY people are calling me crazy. You see, you have adjusted to madness and craziness and so has Bruce. I have taken 35 years and healed. You probably haven't. That is why you can go into places that are called ``The Devil's Den'' and have coffee and sandwich and think nothing of it; that is why you can go Down Town in Philadelphia and spend $1,000.00 at Macy's Department Store and think nothing of it when there are no Black departments stores and WE as Blacks people continue to be relegated to being a ``consumer class'' of people; that is why you watch the news about a football player murdering his girlfriend and Himself in from of Football Executives and you go on eating your Captain Crunch cereal [because you have been inoculated against the truth having any impact on you the way it should for humans]; that is why you go on with the deep pain you feel inside and feel self-destructive and hateful towards yourself and refuse to get help and call it ``fear of the stigma of mental health healing'' and walk on with your pain in tact like a rusted iron butt plug up you ass.... Somehow you find pride and sanity as you watch ``The Simpson's'', on The FOX Network and think how nice it is that that little funny ``progressive'' cartoon has been on FOX [a Conservative network] for 20 years and that is just lovely. But I am here to question your sanity because I have already had my head examined and I am here to tell you about yourself, Greg, and IDA and Dena and Phil and Minister BJ.....and WADE and Terry [Love joy]--you for one Love joy are too fixed in comfort as are a few others at church.... You don't tussle any feathers and you don't want yours tussled, even though you told me you wanted to move from New Jersey, but you refuse to do so because you said yourself, you are ``comfortable'' ... Are you sane or have you adjusted to insanity?
When you have started on the Healing Path, you will find refuge and LOVE with other Black people who have also healed. When you have started on this Healing Path, you will find yourself able to talk more frankly and honestly with other Black people and tell them how you really feel and how glad you are that there is a GOD and a Jesus and that He has his hands over your life in a good Way. You will not mask your feelings, with too much marijuana or drink or blow or alcohol or cocaine--you will be able to have more open and honest relationships with your family members, LOVED ones and that someone special will appear or reappear in your life and you will be able to have that long term healthy relationship that you always wanted, but could never figure out why you could never achieve this and had to be alone for decades....
If you have NOT seen ``Flight'' with Denzel Washington I strongly suggest and recommend you go see it. It is about an airline pilot who is so cool He thinks He can ignore a cocaine and alcohol habit. But reality catches up with Him. This film is, like just about ALL of Denzel's films, it is well-acted, finely directed and sticks to your soul and memory like a good chicken and greens and apple pie dinner sticks to your ribs. Don't miss this film. It is a wake- up call. It will help guide you down a path of leadership and healing and better mental health. If you pay attention and don't continue to medicate yourself with food, medicine, alcohol, blow, cocaine, sex, hate, resentment and silly TV.
You, if you heal, you will have that better, more stable, healthier relationship as you heal. I don't care if you are 16 or 66, you will be ready when GOD says you are ready. It is never too late to start the Healing Process [the HP]. If you can't get the money for therapy or if you have bought into the silly ``prejudgments'' about therapy don't let that stop you because you can find your Way to the self- help section of the bookstore or library instead of buying new trains and going to the movies to see another comedy, or having rugged sex again GREG, you can start on that Healing Path [The HP]. This all includes me also, even after 35 years of therapy. Don't think I think I am exempt. This is how you weed the de il out of your life. And stop handing power over to him. You see, I no longer believe in the devil or sin, but that gets into another article. I can tell you this. I take the ``V'' out of the middle letter of that Mother Fucker's name and I turn it into the word VICTORY for myself and my people and your people--not for him to beat us up once again. It is that simple. Malcolm said BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY--I had to steal that ``V'' from that little Mother Fucker, you don't think he just gave it to me do you? Just like I had to steal Bruce's shirts........................................................iIhad to save Bruce's life and make the de il powerless..... You can do the same thing...
If you don't want to go to the book store and the library and go to the self-help section go to your Barber and your Pastor and talk it out, or a relative of significant other, but don't let things fester Like a raisin in the WHAT!!! Thank you Langston Hughes.... and Loraine Hans berry....fester inside like that football player did. You see the results there... Go with Abandon. Open you heart and your Spirit. Stop with the excuses, the self- medication, the alcohol and over sexualization the self-lies. I am NOT saying don't be gay or a homosexual. I'm a homosexual. BUT stop lying to yourself. Stop hiding things under the rug Ed. You live in a house that is also falling down and that has a lot of bumpy spots under the rugs where you have hidden your stories and lies and deceit. You are a church man. Do you actually think GOD doesn't know about what you have done and are doing? Do you actually think your church members don't know? When a person gets Brest cancer Cheryl they often have to have a radical mastectomy. The word Radical is what I am. People don't like that word. I am a radical person. I was put here by GOD to rip the wounds open so they can heal properly. Excuse the bumps inside my lips I have oral herpes. It will never go away or heal properly but it is somewhat treatable for the flair-ups on the inside..... Now, how will I ever find a LOVER who can deal with that? I'll have to take Him to the doctor with me and we will have to talk it out. This is therapy. I was lucky that I didn't get HIV because of the sexual activities I took part in, especially in New York City in the 1980's. Thank GOD that She [GOD] was with me in Spirit as I carried out my activities. The will kiss you on the cheek you will not get what I have, so don't go and get sick from stress you are causing yourself for not inviting me to you Birthday Party Mother Doris. I LOVe you and I think you have many more years with our church. You might NOT believe it, but this is a fine Way to bring about healing. There is a 900 pound gorilla at church at The Unity Fellowship Christ Church of Philadelphia and He is there every week. He is indifference, cattiness, pettiness, greed, hatred, self-hatred, anger, resentment, selfishness, stupidity, grief and silliness. It is OK to have political beliefs Brother Greg Jones. You can be a political Black man and not feel that you will feel persecuted. It is all throughout the Bible that you will be protected and have a long life. Please treat your lover Richard well. You see, I also love him, not in the Way you do, but He is my Brother and I love Him and YOU TOO... Yes, I was a bit jealous, but I'm had one apolitical lover before I really wasn't interested in having another one. It is time for this animal--this 600 pound gorilla--to go the way with the de il who is missing his ``V'' because the good ones among us stole that fucker's victory. You know what your problems are. You know because they DOG you each and every day. You know because you confess them to GOD sometimes, but most likely NOT even in church. They sit there among that 900 pound gorilla. In waiting, to pounce on all of us until you deal with them... Your Pastor tells you every Sunday, but you go and get some ice cream and medicate yourself with that and refuse to look at ``Michael Jackson's Man or Woman in the Mirror.....'' When you confess to your Pastor, your uncle, your aunt, your parents, your Brothers and Your sisters you will feel a new light a Bright Hope light burning inside you... You know what it is that is bothering you. You can't put your finger on it because the pain is too much. If you can't put your finger on it, try putting your finger on the feeling and talk to someone in your family or among your friends that your trust. An uncle or a Pastor. You will be giving yourself the gift of LOVE. You will be giving yourself the gift of Wellness wholeness, solitude, peace, self-worth, serenity, self-love and more stable thinking, a calmness... You will find it easier to make decisions and think through things properly because you will have an Angel on your shoulder and GOD in your pocket... the de il will melt like yesterday's nightmare... The decisions you make will be clearer, more accurate, better thought and through, more forthright, and more level headed. That means you too Carlos. I wish your LOVER could come to church with you once in a while. You have been a shining light for me and I LOVE you and I LOVE the Gay couples in our church.... Our church members will find themselves acting in reality NOT the fantasy way they saw last night on ``666 Park Avenue,'' Thanks Vanessa Williams, but don't give me more of the de il I'll just have to steal some more ``VICTORIES'' from that little fucker..you will find yourself becoming a leader, not a follower. No matter what age you are. Gandhi said something like ``Encourage the People and the Leaders will Follow,'' and as you know, King studied Gandhi. The more honest you become with yourself, Sissy, the more able you will be to see yourself as a leader. Your opinions will be sought after and you will insist on living in a cleaner environment Bruce, and you Will enjoy surrounding yourself with people who are about something positive and forward moving instead of people who will be unnecessarily critical, unconstructive in their criticism, negative and who want to hold you back and ``WE'' back as Black people. You will burn new paths in life instead of follow others like lost sheep and GET BURNED by others. Just stat by selecting one of the books from my book list about healing and helping the world to be a better place. In no time you will find yourself turning off the TV and reading book after book after book. Remember I LOVE you and I want to help.
We can work through this money thing and NOT having a new church building. We have shoes. we have socks--thank you McKale--that was a gift of words that will forever give back to me--the healing process..... I want the best for my valued Brothers and Sisters.
