About the Supreme Court…
With the absence of
Mr. Kennedy from the Supreme Court, we have an international opportunity to
take a look at How the whole Supreme Court system is handled and call it into
question. ANYONE living in the world ANYWHERE MUST have a say in this
process as U.S. policy, armed intervention and economic intervention has affected
each and every person on the planet earth.
My feeling is we
should have an elected Supreme Court and that each member should have a term of
only 10 years. NOT A LIFETIME SEAT ON
THE HIGH COURT THAT MAKES THEM MORE POWERFUL THAN ANY SITTING U.S. PRESIDENT
THROUGHOUT TIME, INCLUDING ROOSEVELT.
I make my
apologies for sounding a bit harsh or a bit angry, but there are many, many
people around the world who are suffering a great deal due to U.S. policy and
judicial rulings that are made by the U.S. Supreme Court.
Making each
justice only able to hold a ten-year term will bring long-awaited democracy and
change [ and I don’t mean pocket change] to our high court. The turnover will automatically allow more vigorous
flux & flexibility to our system and not allow for one-sided courts to rule
for an inordinate amount of time.
There also needs
to be a system put into place to make sure that ALL PEOPLE THROUGHOUT THE WORLD
have some sort of systematic say in what and How people are placed on the
Supreme Court and have a vote in who gets put on the Supreme Court.
The process needs
to be opened and more than ole White men need to be on the court. The existence of Clarence Thomas on the High
Court has been a consistent and on-going slap in the face to Africans, African
Americans and all people of African descent throughout the world, as well as
all thinking and caring people of all races, and needs to be addressed, counterbalanced,
and compensated for immediately.
I need People of
merit, will and good ethics to take up this issue in their personal discussions,
social media, stock purchases, advocacy work, and to utilize their bully
pulpits to make these items mentioned above come to life as soon as possible.
Mr. Tracy Charles Gibson,
Educator, activist, writer, children’s advocate, businessman,
philanthropist.
